A woman from Georgia, Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, is now in custody following a shooting incident on Interstate 10 in the Florida Panhandle. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Celestine had told hotel staff in Holmes County on Monday morning that she believed she was instructed by “God” to carry out a shooting spree related to the solar eclipse.
According to CBS – shortly after leaving the hotel in a purple Dodge Challenger, Celestine drove west on Interstate 10 and fired shots at two cars. One driver was shot in the neck, while the other was grazed on the arm. An FHP Trooper spotted Celestine’s Dodge Challenger exiting I-10 in Ponce De Leon and attempting to make a U-turn back onto the interstate. The trooper intervened and pulled her over with the assistance of the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
Celestine was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm. She was then placed in the Holmes County Jail for booking.
Upon searching Celestine’s car, troopers discovered an AR-15 rifle and a 9mm handgun.
