This is why dads matter. A man in Florida is in jail for breaking into his mother’s house through the dog door to steal from her and stabbing her to death in front of two children, including his own daughter.

John “Jake” Aylor, 37, is charged with first-degree murder while committing burglary and armed burglary in the death of his 64-year-old mother Julie Aylor. The incident occurred in Brandon, near Tampa, around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister revealed that Aylor had a history of unauthorized entry into his mother’s home and stealing from her. He stated that Aylor had been in and out of jail since 2003, leaving his mother to care for his 10-year-old daughter.

According to Chronister, Aylor got angry when he couldn’t find anything valuable to steal from his mother’s house. He armed himself with a knife and got into an argument with his mother, resulting in him stabbing her in the chest. The victim’s screams woke up her granddaughter and Aylor’s daughter, who called 911.

Despite being fatally injured, Julie Aylor begged for help from her son before she passed away. Aylor fled the scene but was later arrested after a tip from a concerned citizen. He remains in custody without bond.

Authorities revealed that Aylor has a history of drug addiction and over 20 previous arrests for various crimes. Sheriff Chronister expressed condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the need for accountability for such violent acts.

Julie Aylor’s granddaughter and daughter spoke to the media, expressing their grief and disbelief at the tragic loss. The granddaughter recalled her grandmother’s plea for help, while the daughter expressed anger and sorrow over her mother’s death and the impact on the family.

The family is devastated by the loss of Julie Aylor, who was described as loving and caring for everyone. The community mourns the senseless tragedy and supports the family during this difficult time.
