On Wednesday, Jessica Ross and Treveon Isaiah Taylor, Sr., bravely addressed the public after receiving the devastating news that their child’s death during the challenging birth last summer has been officially classified as a homicide.
According to 11alive news, the baby’s cause of death was determined to be “a fracture-dislocation with complete transection, upper cervical spine and spinal cord.” This ruling implies that the death resulted from the actions of another individual. As of now, it remains unclear whether any charges will be brought against anyone in light of this revelation. 11Alive has reached out to the authorities and other relevant parties to inquire about the current status of the case.
During the statement, the family’s attorneys acknowledged the various lawsuits that have been filed in connection with the tragedy, including one against the hospital. The legal team alleges that the hospital attempted to conceal the true nature of the baby’s death.
Taylor briefly spoke, expressing their desire for justice, stating, “We want justice for our son; they lied to us.” Ross stood by Taylor’s side, visibly struggling to hold back tears before eventually leaving the room.
“It has been an incredibly difficult time for the entire family,” one of the attorneys shared with reporters, adding, “They have shown tremendous strength and resilience.”
The family’s legal representatives also emphasized that they are actively working to depose all individuals who were present in the delivery room at the time of the birth.
