Robert and Janine Pecha from Staten Island, New York, were arrested for child neglect and domestic violence charges. The Florida Department of Children and Families took custody of their 5-year-old and 3-year-old as there were no relatives or friends nearby.
The couple, married for 12 years, had no prior history of domestic violence. When authorities arrived, they found the couple heavily intoxicated on the bed, surrounded by empty alcohol cans and bottles in the bathroom.
Despite claiming they had not fought, the children revealed that their parents had been drinking all day and got into an argument about spending time together. This led to the altercation where the father hit the mother several times in the face.
Janine was taken to the emergency room for intoxication, while Robert received treatment at the hospital before being taken to jail. Janine did not have an attorney listed, but Robert did.
