A nanny named Guitan Liu has been accused of abusing a two-day-old baby, and shocking video footage of her actions has surfaced. Liu got the job through a reference written by her daughter, Christina Liu, who has since been fired from her job at TikTok.

The family who hired Liu, living in a luxury home in Hillsborough, California, discovered the abuse while watching their baby monitor. They were horrified to see Liu throwing, slapping, and smothering their newborn daughter. The parents, who wish to remain anonymous, are now speaking out to prevent this from happening to other families.

The mother, who calls herself “Bay Area Mom D” on social media, shared videos showing Liu mistreating the baby. She explained that Liu seemed trustworthy based on the reference that presented her as a former employer. However, it turned out that the reference was actually written by Liu’s daughter, Christina, who worked at TikTok.

The parents noticed Liu acting roughly with their baby on October 2, and when they reviewed more footage, they realized the abuse was ongoing. They fired Liu the next day, but she reacted aggressively. The father then downloaded the videos and was shocked to see the extent of the abuse, which included shaking the baby, smothering her, and hitting her with a bottle.

Fortunately, after taking the baby to the doctor for tests, they found no serious injuries, but more evaluations are ongoing. They reported the abuse to the police, but by the time they did, Liu had already fled back to China with the help of her daughter.

The parents are now seeking public support and have started a petition that has gathered over 34,000 signatures, asking federal authorities to investigate the situation further. They expressed their disbelief that someone they trusted could do something so terrible, and they worry about the potential long-term effects on their baby.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe stated that Liu could face serious charges, including multiple felonies related to child cruelty, which could lead to significant prison time if she is found and convicted. He emphasized the vulnerability of the newborn and described the actions as “evil.”
