Hurricane Milton, currently a strong Category 4 storm, is expected to make landfall overnight Wednesday as a slightly weaker major hurricane on Florida’s Central Gulf Coast. This storm could be one of the most destructive in history. The exact location where Milton will come ashore may change, which could affect where the most dangerous storm surge hits, especially in the Tampa area and along the Gulf Coast. You can follow Milton’s path using CNN’s storm tracker.

Milton is Growing in Size:

Even though Milton may weaken, it could still cause significant damage because it is getting larger. In the last 24 hours, the area with tropical-storm-force winds has expanded from 80 miles to 140 miles from the storm’s center. This means that the impact of the storm will be felt over a much wider area, with tropical-storm-force winds expected to cover the entire width of Florida.

Time is Running Out:

The storm’s outer bands have already reached the area, and strong winds and heavy rain will intensify by the afternoon. Florida officials have warned that this is the “11th hour” for evacuations and are urging residents to leave while they still can on Wednesday morning.
