A study from Brigham Young University found that having a sister can greatly boost mental health and self-esteem.

The research showed that sisters help lessen feelings of loneliness, guilt, and fear while offering emotional support throughout life. The study looked at over 395 families and discovered that siblings, particularly sisters, improve social and communication skills, leading to better overall well-being.

This positive impact was noticeable whether the sister was older or younger.
