In Massachusetts, a police officer named James Feeley has been charged with sexually assaulting a child.
He pleaded not guilty to child rape and indecent assault charges in court. The victim in this case was younger than 12 years old. Prosecutors had requested a bail of $500,000, but the court set Feeley’s bail at $200,000.
Feeley’s defense attorney argued that the bail was unreasonably high, considering his client’s two decades of police service. The Winthrop Police Department has temporarily suspended Feeley pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. Feeley’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 29th.
