Fellas, it’s important to remember that just because someone likes you doesn’t mean they will like your children. We need to be careful and get to know people well before introducing them to our kids.

In Michigan, a 46-year-old woman named Hilary Ulp has been sentenced to life in prison for killing her boyfriend’s 6-year-old son, Nicolas Kuras. She beat the boy to death because she was jealous of the attention he received from his father.

Judge Diane Druzinski sentenced Ulp to life in prison without the chance of parole. A jury found her guilty of first-degree murder after a six-week trial. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido expressed condolences to Nicolas’s family, stating that this case highlights the serious consequences of abuse.

This was not Ulp’s first time in trouble. She was already in prison for hurting Nicolas when he was just 14 months old. In May 2015, he was hospitalized with severe injuries, including a head injury, a broken collarbone, and broken ribs. At that time, Ulp was babysitting him. She was arrested and convicted of child abuse in 2016 and received a sentence of 11 to 30 years.

Authorities believe Ulp’s jealousy of Nicolas motivated her to harm him. His father said Ulp was babysitting while he was out one night. The next morning, he found Nicolas crying and told Ulp to call for help. Ulp claimed Nicolas might have hurt himself by falling off the bed or that she “possibly hugged him too strong,” which she said could have caused his injuries.

Sadly, Nicolas never recovered from the abuse and died on January 7, 2021, just shy of his 7th birthday. After his death, Ulp was charged with murder while already serving her prison sentence.
