You might find this hard to believe, but parents, check on your kids. If your kids used TikTok a lot—for fun or business—it is crucial to talk to them about how this ban will impact them.

TikTok enthusiasts are grappling with the alarming reality less than 24 hours after the app went dark due to its ban set for January 19th. The sudden removal of the platform has left many users in distress, and experts are warning that the fallout could be severe.

Dr. Anna Lembke, a psychiatrist at Stanford, emphasizes the seriousness of this situation: “When someone abruptly stops using an addictive substance, they can experience intense withdrawal symptoms. These include extreme anxiety, irritability, insomnia, depression, and overwhelming cravings. TikTok addicts may find themselves facing any or all of these frightening effects.”

As the hours pass since the ban, countless users are already feeling the psychological and physical toll of losing their beloved app. The alarming prospect of withdrawal is becoming a harsh reality, leaving many to confront the challenges of life without TikTok. The urgency of this situation cannot be overstated—those affected must be aware of the potential struggles ahead, and parents do not shy away from having this hard conversation with your children.
