A North Carolina mom, Nikita Jones, 21, was arrested for allegedly leaving her six-week-old baby in her car while she worked at McDonald’s.

On December 2, police arrested her after issuing two warrants: one for misdemeanor child abuse and another for felony child abuse causing serious injury. Reports say that Jones left her baby unrestrained in the car, where the temperature was only 40 degrees. Additionally, she is accused of hitting the baby in the face, resulting in bruising around her eyes.

The incident occurred on November 21 when Jones turned off the car and went inside the McDonald’s in Raleigh to start her shift. The alleged abuse happened the day before, on November 20, when the baby was found with bruises, swelling, and scratches on her face.

There is no information available about the baby’s current condition or how long she was left in the car. Jones is being held in jail with a $50,000 bond for the felony charge and a $5,000 bond for the misdemeanor. Her next court date is December 10 for the felony arraignment, and she will return on December 19 for the misdemeanor.
