A family in Charles County is speaking out after their 7-year-old son was hospitalized due to an incident at his elementary school. The boy’s mom shared what happened online, and her post quickly gained over 215,000 likes on Instagram.

According to the mother, her second-grade son was hung by a fourth-grade student in the boys’ bathroom. She received a shocking call from the school, telling her that her son was being rushed to the hospital. Although she feels angry and upset, she is grateful that her son is alive.

The boy’s parents are emotional as they describe their son’s injuries, which include bruises on his neck and marks under his eyes. They say he is traumatized by the experience and will need time to heal.

The incident happened at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School in Waldorf, Maryland. The school district acknowledged the event in a letter, explaining that it started as horseplay in the bathroom. One student’s jacket got caught on a hook, and while trying to help, the other student couldn’t free him. The school staff called 911 for medical help, and there was some confusion that led to concerns in the community.

Despite the school’s explanation, the boy’s mother is still looking for more information. She questions how horseplay could lead to such a serious injury and wants answers.

The mother believes her son’s experience is a case of bullying, as he told her that the other boy mentioned showing him how he hurt people in the past. She is worried about other children who might have faced similar situations.

The parents want the school to improve safety measures, such as having monitors in the hallways and separating younger and older students in the bathrooms. They feel it’s unacceptable for a fourth grader to be in the same bathroom as a second grader.

The parents have decided their son will not return to the school, but they are hoping for more updates and changes from the school district soon. They believe every child deserves to feel safe at school.
