A mother in Hialeah, Florida, has been accused of pushing her 1-year-old daughter out of a car after the child spilled shampoo. Tasshay Mills, 29, was arrested last week on charges of child abuse and neglect. The incident caused a missing child alert before the girl was found safe.

The incident occurred on Thursday night at the intersection of Northwest 37th Avenue and Northwest 54th Street. Witnesses reported seeing the girl in the roadway.

According to the arrest warrant, a woman in the car with Mills and her daughter said the child spilled shampoo on the seat, which angered Mills. Mills then hit the child multiple times, causing her to cry. In a fit of anger, Mills opened the car’s rear door and pushed the child out, leading to the girl falling on the asphalt.

Mills drove away, leaving the child behind. She later returned to pick up the child after making a U-turn. Witnesses had already picked up the child and were contacting the police when Mills confronted them.

A Ring camera captured the encounter, showing the witness holding the child and calling the police. The witness refused to give the child back to Mills, who then forcefully took the child and left the scene.

The witness reported that the child had several injuries, including gravel on her face, bleeding from her head, and difficulty breathing. Photos of Mills’ license plate were taken by witnesses, helping police identify her.

After being contacted by a Hialeah Police detective, Mills initially agreed to take the child to a hospital but failed to do so. When asked for the child’s location, Mills refused to provide it.

The woman who was in the car with Mills later contacted the police and informed them of Mills’ location in Miramar. Officers found Mills there with a friend, who provided the location of the 1-year-old in Opa-locka. The child was found and taken to Jackson North Medical Center for evaluation.

Mills was questioned by detectives and claimed she had pulled over to clean the seat. She was initially arrested in Broward but was later booked into a Miami-Dade jail. A Miami-Dade judge granted her a $7,500 bond and appointed her a public defender.
