Memphis Mother Charged After 6-Year-Old Brings Loaded Gun to School

A mom in Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested and charged after her 6-year-old son brought a loaded gun to school.

Police were called to Geeter K-8 School on Thursday, Sept. 5, after a child was found with a 9mm Ruger handgun. The child’s teacher found the gun in his backpack after another student reported it.

The child’s mother, Ke’Erinie King, admitted the gun was hers and claimed she got it from someone unknown. The gun was later found to be stolen.

King, 22, was charged with child abuse, neglect, carrying a weapon on school property, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was released from jail and has a court date set for Oct. 4.
