A man driving home from work was fatally shot by an accused gunman in a random attack in California, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, Victor Hugo Leon, 42, from San Jacinto, was unable to be saved after being shot at 7:05 a.m. on Monday, June 3.

Leon, a father of four, had just finished an overnight shift at a warehouse when the tragic incident occurred. His wife, Griselda Zepeda, described him as a loving person and expressed deep sorrow over his loss. She became worried when he didn’t return home as expected and couldn’t reach him by phone.

Zepeda shared her anguish, stating, “I don’t know what he was thinking in his final moments. It pains me greatly.” A fundraising campaign was set up to assist Leon’s family, highlighting his role as a wonderful father, husband, and friend.

Another individual was injured in the shooting and was hospitalized, while several vehicles were struck by bullets. Following an investigation, Julio Cesar Rodarte, 39, of San Jacinto, was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder. The authorities have stated that there are no additional suspects at large.

The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward by contacting the provided phone numbers: 951-955–2777 or 951-654–2702.
