A man from South Fulton is facing a 50-year prison sentence for poisoning his newborn baby.
After delivering breastmilk to the baby’s grandmother, who was looking after her granddaughter, the baby fell critically ill within 24 hours, leading to suspicions of poisoning.
On October 1, 2020, police reported that Jack collected bottles of breastmilk from the mother of his newborn daughter, who had been hospitalized after giving birth on September 24, 2020.
Jack confessed to adding antifreeze to the breastmilk, as revealed by detectives from the South Fulton Police Department.
During the trial, the State presented testimonies from the child’s mother, grandmother, law enforcement officials, and medical experts. They even demonstrated how simple it was to poison the breastmilk.
Jack and the mother had been in a relationship since January 2020. Police mentioned that Jack had previously pressured the woman to end her pregnancy.
The jury found Jack guilty on all charges, resulting in a 50-year sentence, with 40 years to be served in custody.
