12 States Are Banning Crocs in Schools

If your child loves wearing Crocs, you might want to have a different shoe ready. Many schools are now banning Crocs because of safety worries.

Over twelve states have school districts that say kids can’t wear Crocs anymore. This is partly because of a social media trend where kids share videos of themselves falling while wearing Crocs. School officials are concerned that this could encourage other kids to copy these falls and get hurt.

For example, one school district in Georgia reminded parents that Crocs aren’t allowed, even on days when students can wear regular clothes instead of uniforms. Another school district in Florida made it clear in their dress code that there is a strict “NO CROCS” rule.

Crocs have become very popular among kids and are now one of the top ten types of shoes for children. However, experts say that wearing them for a long time may not be good for kids’ feet because they don’t offer enough support, especially during active play.
